Productivity Tools
Business Faculty/Staff are advised to use all available tools within the campus to balance their research/office work, teaching, and personal tasks. Some efficient tools that are provided for faculty/staff are listed below. Also, please note that some of the tools and resources below are fully administered by the University Computing Services, and Tech Center staff can provide assistance within the administrative privileges granted.
NETWORK AND CONNECTIVITY
Walton Intranet:
Local intranet is one stop shop for Faculty/Staff to find several internal forms,
processes, tutorials, research tools and guides. Click here to use Walton Intranet.
Email:
It is important that all faculty/staff receive an exchange email account. Configured
with Microsoft Outlook, an exchange account provides many excellent features to manage
day to day activities.
Emails can be accessed remotely through Smartphones.
Off Campus Connectivity:
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a tool that can provide UARK users with secure
access to the University network from off campus. VPN enables access to shared drives
and MyDocs.
Office desktops can be remotely accessed from off campus. VPN is not as quick as Remote
Desktop access, however it provides many more features such as shared drive access
and secure logins. Instructions to set up a remote desktop connection is available here. Call our HelpDesk @ 479-575-6156 to set up this feature for your desktop.
DATA STORAGE:
Shared Drive (W:\\)
Faculty/Staff can use Walton shared drive to store and share their work documents. Users
can store up to 10GB of data. Shared drive is backed up every night. Contact Tech
Center @ 479-575-6156 if you need the W drive mapped in your desktop/laptop.
My Documents
Students can store their files in My Documents folder in any of the lab computers.
My Documents folder is accessible from any other computer in any labs. If working
remotely, log into http://uamail.uark.edu using regular email username and password. My Docs folder should appear on the left
side of the page.
UA Drop Box
http://dropboxit.uark.edu allows users to store and retrieve files of bigger sizes. This can be used as an
alternate for email attachments which has size restrictions.
