Please note that you should use a wired (ethernet cord) internet connection if possible; however, if you must use a wifi network to access the test, you should avoid large shared connection environments such as apartment buildings and dorms and any network where others are playing video games or using streaming services such as Netflix. The assessment test can may be taken on any Windows or Mac computer.

The assessment cannot be taken on a mobile tablet or device as you will experience problems loading the questions and images. Students are only permitted one opportunity to take the computer competency assessment, no exceptions – including computer malfunctions.

  • How long will it take to complete the assessment?

You will be given one hour (60 minutes) to complete the assessment. Once you begin the assessment you must complete it in one sitting. The test may not be closed and resumed at a later time. At the end of 60 minutes, the test will automatically be submitted and scored.

  • After I complete the assessment test, how will I be enrolled?

If you score a 80% or higher on the computer competency assessment you will be eligible to complete ISYS 1120 for the term you selected when signing up for the assessment. If you placed into ISYS 1120 the Undergraduate Programs Office will enroll you in ISYS 1120. This process occurs within two weeks of completing the assessment. Once you are enrolled in the course it is your responsibility to contact the instructor and complete the requirements for the course.

If you score less than 80% on the assessment you are not eligible for ISYS 1120 and you are required to complete ISYS 1123. It is your responsibility to add ISYS 1123 to your schedule in the semester of your choice. We encourage you to speak with an advisor to discuss how this will impact your future semesters.

  • How do I enroll in business classes that require the computer competency as a prerequisite?

You may enroll in ISYS 1123 Business Application Knowledge for the term in which you wish to complete the computer competency. Enrolling yourself in ISYS 1123 will give you direct access on UAConnect to enroll in other business classes that require the computer competency as a prerequisite. For example if you want to take the computer competency in the summer term and take WCOB 1033 Data Analysis in the fall semester, you may enroll yourself in ISYS 1123 for the summer term, thus giving you access to enroll in WCOB 1033 for the fall semester as long as you meet the other prerequisites.

Once you complete the assessment, and if you score a 80% or higher, the Undergraduate Programs Office will automatically enroll you in ISYS 1120 Computer Competency for the semester you selected through the online form. Once ISYS 1120 is added to your schedule in UAConnect, you may enroll in future courses that require ISYS 1120 as a prerequisite. *If you previously enrolled in ISYS 1123 and are not required to take the course based on your assessment score, it will be your responsibility to drop ISYS 1123 from your schedule before the last day to receive 100% cancellation of fees for dropping a class during the selected semester.

If you score less than 80% you are not eligible for ISYS 1120 and you will be required to complete ISYS 1123 Business Application Knowledge. Therefore if you had previously enrolled in ISYS 1123 you may stay in the course for your selected semester to complete the computer competency requirement.

If you receive any enrollment errors on UAConnect regarding the computer competency prerequisite, please e-mail the Computer Competency Administrator at wcobcct@walton.uark.edu.
