Soochow University: Dual Degree in Business Administration

By means of a partnership between the University of Arkansas and Soochow University, students from China complete a program to obtain both a Soochow University Bachelor Diploma and a University of Arkansas Bachelor's degree.

Program Overview: BSBA in Supply Chain Management

Students will complete the program better prepared for careers in the field of logistics and supply chain management and will be ready to hold positions at international logistics enterprises, global manufacturers and Chinese governmental administration departments.

Participants will attend classes at the School of Politics and Public Administration at Soochow University and then transition to the University of Arkansas, Sam M. Walton College of Business. Some course materials will be utilized at Soochow University during the student’s first few years. All courses affiliated with the program at both Soochow University and the University of Arkansas will be taught in English. Upon completion, students will be awarded a degree from both Soochow University and the University of Arkansas.

 

About the University of Arkansas

Founded in 1871, the University of Arkansas is a public, co-education research university located in the south central part of the United States. It is the flagship university in the state of Arkansas.

With various programs, the University of Arkansas has six colleges and 75 departments and has been recognized as a "Top Tier National University" by U.S. News & World Report, a prominent American news magazine. The Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is the foreign college that cooperates with School of Politics and Public Administration (Soochow University).

As one of the best business schools of the United States, Sam M. Walton College of Business has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business(AACSB) since 1931. Moreover, Sam M. Walton College of Business consists seven departments, which are Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information System, Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and nine research and outreach centers. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. It has also been recognized for its 15th ranked public supply chain management program by U.S. News & World Report.

In the first three years, students will attend classes at the School of Politics and Public Administration at Soochow University. Each summer, while at their home school, students will take two classes through the University of Arkansas, for a total of six classes over three different summers. In the fourth year, students will attend, and take classes at Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Those who finish all of the program's courses and meet all requirements will be awarded a Soochow University graduation certificate, Soochow University Bachelor Diploma and a University of Arkansas Bachelor's degree.

The goal of the program is to prepare participants to be well-rounded students and business professionals morally and intellectually and to learn supply chain management and general management skills.

Students in this program will be able to use qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to analyze logistics activities and manage logistics businesses.

Students will learn the newest theory, technology and analysis of global logistics and supply chain management industries.

Last but not least, with fluent oral English and research skills, students will be prepared to work in global logistics and supply chain management positions held at international or domestic well-known logistics enterprises, global or domestic manufacturers and Chinese governmental administration departments.

Program Instruction

Univesity of Arkansas campus

Soochow University and the University of Arkansas will create lesson plans together and are responsible for teaching and managing process. There are two study periods: the first period lasts three years, while the second one lasts one year. During the first period, students will take undergraduate basic courses and some of specialized courses and strengthen their English skills. Some materials used in University of Arkansas will also be used in some courses in Soochow University during this period, those courses will be given in English by foreign teachers. For the second study period, students will take courses given in English by teachers from University of Arkansas. Students who finish all the courses with required scores will be awarded Soochow University Graduation Certificate, Soochow University Bachelor Diploma and University of Arkansas Bachelor's Degree diploma.

Due to unforseen factors, such as rejection of visa, students who cannot go to the United State can keep studying at Soochow University to finish the remaining courses. Students will be awarded Soochow University Graduation Certificate and Soochow University Bachelor Diploma as long as they finish all the courses with required scores.

Fee Standards

1. Tuition Fees in China: 21,600 yuan/academic year (excluding language testing fee, visa fee and other third party fees)

2. Other fees in China (For example, fees for housing fees, course materials, etc.) will be paid according to related policy in Soochow University.

3. Fees in United States will be paid according to the international student fee standards policy at the University of Arkansas.

Admissions Requirements

Soochow University requires a Chinese college entrance examination result that meets the requirement for the second batch of undergraduate courses at Soochow University.

The University of Arkansas requires a GPA of 2.5 for the first study period in China, and Language scores of TOFEL 79 or LELTS 6.5

Note 1: 211 project is a project of National Key Universities and colleges initiated in 1995 by the Chinese Ministry of Education, with the intent of raising the research standards of high-level universities and cultivating strategies for socio-economic development.

Note 2: 2011 plan- the latest program launched in 2011 by the Chinese Ministry of Education to develop into world class top universities

Note 3: The second batch of undergraduate college, of which the college entrance examination scores level is less than the first batch's. Although Soochow University is the key comprehensive university (first batch) of Jiangsu Province, it also recruits students based on second batch score level for some majors.

Note 4: Discipline Levels - According to the standard issued by Chinese Ministry of Education, Master's majors are categorized in three levels: Discipline Category, First-level Discipline and Second-level Discipline. Based on 2011 revised edition of Content for Degree Awarded and personnel Education Disciplines, there are 13 Discipline Categories, each of which has several first-level disciplines (110 in total). In the same way, there are numbers of second-level disciplines under each of first-level discipline.
