A transformative addition to the University of Arkansas’ Sam M. Walton College of Business will affect how students learn, connect and collaborate for decades to come. The recently announced Mandy and Bill Dillard II Hall is being designed entirely around the student experience. The new building is expected to bring 22 modern classrooms and expansive spaces for studying, teamwork and community to the Walton College complex. Construction is expected to break ground in Spring 2027, with completion anticipated in Fall 2029.
“It’s meant to be a place where students spend time together, build relationships, collaborate across disciplines, and move ideas from classroom discussion into real-world problem solving,” said Mark Power, Assistant Dean for Philanthropy at the Walton College. “Dedicated collaboration zones, study areas, a variety of classroom types and gathering spaces create an environment where students can learn, collaborate and push their thinking further.”
This addition to the business complex comes at a critical moment, as Walton College enrollment exceeds 10,000 students, up almost 60% since 2019, increasing demand for modern, flexible learning environments. This building brings more student learning, collaboration and industry engagement together in one place, strengthening connections between students, faculty and the companies that regularly engage on campus. It will also serve as the permanent home for the Walton College’s McMillon Innovation Studio, further embedding hands-on learning.
As the Walton College celebrates its 100th anniversary, this investment represents more than growth. It is a decisive step forward that expands opportunity, strengthens the student experience and positions the Walton College to help shape what business education looks like next.
