After 12 years at the University of Arkansas, Lori McLemore, the assistant director of marketing and recruitment for the Graduate School of Business, is retiring. Please join the Sam M. Walton College of Business on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., in Willard J. Walker Hall room 504 to send her off in proper U of A style!

Lori joined Walton College April 22, 2013, as the marketing and communications officer for the Office of Marketing and Communications. In this capacity, she wrote feature articles, press releases, brochures, web copy, advertising and general marketing materials. She also managed social media accounts and served as a media contact during special events such as the annual Arkansas Business Hall of Fame and the Business Forecast Luncheon.

“This position allowed me to meet so many faculty, staff, donors, alumni and students at Walton,” she said. “It was one of the nicest and most rewarding parts of my job.”

Lori also marketed several specialty graduate degrees when they were first introduced. This led her to her current position at the college as the assistant director of marketing and recruitment for the Graduate School of Business, where she focused on promoting the faculty, staff and students at the graduate school within Walton College.

Here she wrote press releases, feature articles, brochures and ads to create awareness of each program.

Prior to joining Walton College, Lori worked in marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a national nonprofit headquartered in Atlanta, for 19 years. There she oversaw the content for the public-facing website – www.bgca.org – and an internal intranet site – www.bgca.net – for some 3500 local Boys & Girls Clubs. She also managed and directed a weekly electronic newsletter sent to Club staff. She oversaw digital advertising and social media for the organization.

“Throughout my career, the best part of every job has always been the people I’ve met, highlighted, assisted and collaborated with,” Lori said. “When you look back at all of the time spent at work, that’s what means the most. A lot of life happens at work, and my coworkers have made it a rewarding and valuable experience for me.”

In the coming months and years, Lori will visit family and friends, garden, read books, visit national parks and attack those projects around the house that never seem to get done! She looks forward to spending more time with her husband Robert, adult kids Sam and Maggie, and her miniature dachshund Coco.
