Jennifer Molleston brings decades of cross-industry experience to healthcare analytics, as she grows her expertise through data, insight, and impact.

After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1993 and an MBA from the University of Tulsa in 1998, Molleston built a dynamic career spanning cost accounting and analyst roles across multiple industries. Today, she’s strengthening her technical and strategic skillset through the Master of Healthcare Business Analytics program, where she was chosen as the 2026 Graduate Outstanding Program Scholar.

Below, Jennifer shares more about her journey, her experience in the program, and her advice for others considering a future in healthcare analytics.

Did you always plan on a career as a healthcare analyst?

I did not plan on a career as a healthcare analyst. Early in my career I was a cost accountant, and since then I’ve held analyst roles across several industries, including oil and gas, telecommunications and education.

My current role at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career. I collaborate with healthcare providers across the state, and the work I do helps equip both the organization and providers with data to support decision-making and improve member outcomes and overall quality of care.

What made you choose the Master of Healthcare Business Analytics program?

The healthcare industry is relying more heavily on data than ever before, and I believe analytics plays a central role in solving important problems, such as improving patient outcomes to managing costs and uncovering insights that inform better decisions. At this stage in my career, pursuing my Master’s felt like a natural next step to complement my hands-on experience with an advanced analytical foundation. It’s an opportunity to further develop both my technical expertise and business perspective so I’m better equipped to take on more complex and impactful challenges.

What is your current job? How are you applying what you’re learning in the program?

I currently work for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Northwest Arkansas as a lead data analyst. From early in the program, I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned directly to my role. Each course has given me practical tools to enhance how I analyze healthcare data, develop and present insights, and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

What are your favorite moments or memories from the program?

One of the most meaningful parts of the program has been the relationships I’ve built along the way. Beyond the coursework, connecting with peers has created a strong sense of support, collaboration, and shared experience. These friendships have made the journey more enjoyable and have provided valuable perspectives that I’ll carry with me well beyond the program.

What advice would you give to prospective or current students?

Don’t just aim to complete assignments; take the time to understand how the concepts can be used in practice, especially in your own work or areas of interest.

Also, build relationships with your classmates. The program goes by quickly, and the connections you make can be just as valuable as the coursework. Collaborating, sharing ideas, and learning from others will deepen your understanding and make the experience more rewarding.

How has the program prepared you for future success?

The program has given me a strong foundation by strengthening both my technical and analytical skills. More importantly, it’s helped me think more critically about data and how to turn it into meaningful insights for decision-making.

It has also increased my confidence in tackling complex problems and communicating results, leaving me better prepared to take on more impactful and strategic work in the future.
