Ph.D. Assistantships

Forms of Funding

Most students admitted to a Walton College Ph.D. program receive funding. This funding comes in three forms: tuition waiver, graduate assistantship (GA), and stipend. Students work half-time (20 hours a week) teaching and/or conducting research. Graduate Assistantships and University Fellowships are awarded for a 4-year period provided students make successful academic progress. Fifth-year funding may be available at the individual department level.

For an applicant to be considered for a fellowship nomination, they must meet the below listed minimum requirements. Meeting these minimums significantly strengthens your competitiveness in the application process, so we strongly encourage you to review these requirements carefully and make every effort to meet them for the best chance of admission.
