Two business-focused research databases with an international reach tout faculty at the Sam M. Walton College of Business as some of the most cited researchers in the world.

Research.com, an international academic platform created to assist researchers, annually ranks the top scientists in business and computer science based on their Google Scholar H-index and number of citations. This ranking reflects the volume of research, number of citations and the scholarly impact of the research.

Per its 2023 rankings of the top scientists and universities in the world, research.com included several business faculty members in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas:

  • Varun Grover, distinguished professor and George & Boyce Billingsley Endowed Chair, Department of Information Systems
  • Scot Burton, distinguished professor and Tyson Research Chair, Department of Marketing
  • Mary Lacity, distinguished professor and David D. Glass Endowed Chair, Department of Information Systems

Elsevier, a Dutch publishing and analytics company, takes a slightly different approach to ranking faculty research. Elsevier’s Data Repository develops a composite indicator (c-score) based on citations, the H-index, and the hm-index (for research with co-authors).

The Data Repository reflects an impressive number of researchers at Walton College. Its international list of top 2% of scholars in business and management include:

  • Varun Grover, distinguished professor and George & Boyce Billingsley Endowed Chair, Department of Information Systems
