The Walton Alumni Learning Series, hosted by the Walton MBA programs at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, started the Spring 2020 series with a sold-out event. Rand Waddoups, senior director omnichannel at Walmart, hosted “Omni Retail and Consumer Products: Embracing the Disruption” at the Arkansas World Trade Center in Rogers, Ark., on Tuesday, February 25 — the first of four Alumni Learning Series events planned for the Spring season.
First implemented in 2018, the Walton Alumni Learning Series was designed to facilitate lifelong learning and networking opportunities for MBA alumni. The series quickly grew into a popular executive education, networking and community engagement program and is now available to the general public. Industry experts, including several Walton MBA alumni and Walton College faculty members, host individual sessions on emerging business topics. Topics for the Spring 2020 series include omni retail and consumer products, the global economic impact of the Coronavirus, creating a culture of urgency and choosing impact over importance when prioritizing technology projects.
Walton Alumni Learning Series events are typically held mid-week over the lunch hour at the World Trade Center in Rogers, Ark., or on the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus with a limited number of events in Little Rock and Dallas. The 2020 Walton Alumni Learning Series will offer new venues and evening hours to diversify attendee experiences — creating new opportunities to connect with local businesses and to highlight the nationally acclaimed art, culture and culinary experiences available in Northwest Arkansas.
