The Graduate School of Business offers graduate certificates in the focus study areas of entrepreneurship and business analytics.
The entrepreneurship focus area provides students with hands-on experience evaluating, formulating and selling business ideas. The program is open to students from all graduate programs, resulting in unique teams of interdisciplinary students working together to develop business plans and compete in business plan competitions. Students’ learning experience is enhanced by training and support from a network of industry experts and mentors from all over the world. Many students pursue their business ideas after the program; others apply newfound leadership and thought generation skills to their positions within existing organizations.
The business analytics focus area was developed in response to the increased need for data literacy. Frameworks taught in the program lay the ground for deeper understanding of concepts like machine learning which are gaining new momentum in business. The courses offer experience gathering, organizing, managing and mining data. Students analyze large, real-world data sets from local companies using tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau and SAS. These skills help students draw meaningful conclusions as they connect technical concepts with key business principles. Students frequently cite an ability to apply their learnings in real time to their jobs.
