Merchandise Guide
The Merchandise Guide outlines standards for creating and ordering promotional items for the Sam M. Walton College of Business. Promotional items include any branded materials intended to promote the college, its programs, events, or initiatives, such as apparel, giveaways, or other items featuring the Walton College or University of Arkansas logo. To ensure brand consistency and quality, all merchandise and promotional items that display the logo must be reviewed and approved by the Walton College Office of Strategic Communications prior to production.
Who can order merchandise/promotional items on behalf of a department?
Merchandise items are typically ordered by department chairs, unit leaders and administrative
support personnel.
Please coordinate with your department’s administrative support team member to ensure that you are approved to order merchandise on behalf of the department or unit and there is funding available for the items.
If you are looking to get merch with the Walton College or University logo on it, all projects must be approved through the Office of Strategic Communications first.
Be sure to use one of our licensed vendors to produce your items. Visit this page for a complete list of approved vendors. Only licensed vendors can use the University of Arkansas and Walton College logos.
Please note: State funds may not be used to purchase promotional items manufactured in China (per Act 943). When ordering, confirm the Country of Origin with the vendor to ensure compliance. See more here.
Approval & Ordering Process:
- Step 1: Contact a vendor and get a quote for your project (they should send you a sampling of different products based on price, color, etc). Once you’ve decided on the items you’d like produced, fill out a creative request form so that our team can create a mock-up for you to send to the vendor.
- Step 2: The vendor will then send you a proof and you will send the proof back to our team, along with a promotional item permission form. This form can be found here.
- Step 3: Our team will review the vendor’s proof and either approve or send corrections back to you and request a new mock-up. Once the mock-up is approved, the signed form will be returned to you. This form will need to be attached to the invoice in Workday. If an approved form is not attached in Workday, accounting will not pay the invoice.
If working with the Office of Strategic Communications on a project:
Creating, approving and printing projects takes time. Be sure to submit a design
request with at least 2 weeks' notice from the project completion date.
Our office receives requests from across the Walton College and often has multiple projects going on at any given time; the earlier we can start a project, the better the final product will be!
Consider the University’s Brand Hierarchy Before Creating Merchandise.
The University of Arkansas name should be represented on all marketing and promotional items, as well as the Sam M. Walton College of Business name.
Named Departments or Offices only take precedence over the college name when space is limited. Departments, Initiatives and Offices should be represented if space allows.
Not sure exactly what you’d like to order for your department? Look through the following section to gather inspiration for your project. Keep in mind that this is NOT a comprehensive list. This list is here to provide you with basic design ideas.
If you would like to create something that is not found on this list, be sure to work with one of our licensed vendors and send the design to the Office of Strategic Communications for approval before you go to print. If you’d like to work with our office to come up with a unique design for your department, we would be happy to help.
Please note: In most cases, merchandise should be ordered in one of these University of Arkansas colors: Red, White, Black, or Gray.
