  • Review the "Preparing for Your Academic Advising Appointment" section below.

Preparing for Your Academic Advising Appointment

Each student will be scheduled for a 30-minute, one-on-one academic advising appointment with a Walton academic advisor once he or she is cleared for advising. Virtual appointments are available. To make sure your appointment runs smoothly, be sure to do the following:

  • Watch your UARK.edu email for an appointment email from the advising office once you have scheduled your appointment. Read all appointment information carefully.
  • If you are completing your appointment virtually, download and familiarize yourself with Microsoft Teams, the online meeting platform used by the University of Arkansas. Microsoft Teams is a tool academic advisors will use to allow for virtual one-on-one advising appointment. You should become familiar with Microsoft Teams prior to your appointment. You have 3 different ways you can access Microsoft Teams:
    • Students must have both a camera and a working microphone or headset.
    • Although Teams may be accessed on a smartphone or tablet, advisors will be sharing their screens during appointments, so a laptop or desktop computer is preferred for a better experience.
  • On the day of your appointment, be sure to log in 10-15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment and be ready to start. Your academic advisor will call your computer directly via Microsoft Teams when they are ready to begin. If you can no longer attend your appointment and/or need to reschedule advising, please call the Undergraduate Programs Office at 479-575-4622 at your earliest convenience.
  • Have access to these items during your virtual advising session:
    • A pen and paper
    • Your UA Student ID number (010xxxxxx)
    • Your UARK username and password and access to your UARK email account
    • UAConnect
    • Copies of transcripts and test scores for dual credit, AP and IB credits if applicable. Unofficial or online versions will be fine.
    • The list of questions you created to ask your advisor
