Walmart CEO Doug McMillon Featured at CRE Conference

The 15th annual Emerging Trends in Retailing conference, on Thursday, June 11, features Doug McMillon, president and chief executive officer of Walmart.

The conference, hosted by the Center for Retailing Excellence, will be held at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.

“The focus will be on the foundations of retailing to today,” said Claudia Mobley, director of the Center for Retailing Excellence. “We are so excited to have Doug McMillon share his insights on the changing face of the retail industry. Doug began his career under the leadership of Sam Walton and holds the founding philosophy of Mr. Sam in high esteem.”

This year’s conference will feature previous and current leadership from the retail giant including Don Harris, retired executive vice president and chief merchandising officer; Judith McKenna, the current executive vice president and chief operating officer; and Andy Murray, senior vice president of creative at Walmart and former chief executive officer of Saatchi & Saatchi X.

Noted industry analyst Marshal Cohen from The NPD Group and Leon Nicholas, senior vice president with Kantar Retail, will bring the current insights of shopper behaviors into play. Campbell Hyers, founding partner and chief executive officer of the Control Group, will discuss the client experience in a technology driven environment. Conference attendees also will hear from Scot Wingo, chief executive officer of ChannelAdvisor, noted for his thought leadership in online sales channels and ecommerce. Charles Redfield, executive vice president of merchandising for Sam’s Club, will wrap up the day.

The Center for Retailing Excellence was established in the Walton College in 1998 with a portion of the $50 million endowment from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation. The center focuses on developing future leaders and serves as a bridge between academics and the retail industry.
