Students who excel in marketing are curious, empathetic problem-solvers with a passion
for understanding consumer needs and creating meaningful connections between people
and products. The Department of Marketing graduates the largest number of majors within the Sam
M. Walton College of Business, preparing them for successful lives and careers.
The Department of Marketing consists of 26 full-time faculty members, more than 20
lecturers, 6-8 doctoral students in residence, a Marketing Program Manager, and an
Administrative Support Supervisor, all dedicated to enhancing the department’s impact
on students.
Our faculty members are recognized for their excellence in teaching, research, and
service, bringing a diverse range of expertise that combines industry experience with
cutting-edge, impactful research, enriching our students’ education. Students in the
Department of Marketing have an abundance of experiential learning opportunities,
such as the Professional Sales Competition, Shopper Marketing Brand/Advertising Competition,
digital marketing and social media projects, and retail store walks. These opportunities
connect students with industry professionals and allow them to apply their academic
knowledge in real-world settings.

successful careers.Many of our students go on to work for well-recognized companies such as the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Tyson Foods, Proctor & Gamble, General Mills, and Saatchi & Saatchi X.
Our undergraduate in-person degree program is designed to prepare students for exciting careers in branding, digital marketing, professional sales, and merchandising. In addition to gaining a comprehensive understanding of marketing functions within
organizations, students develop expertise in areas like consumer behavior, marketing research, and strategic marketing. With
specialized tracks in professional sales and strategic retail, our program provides
a focused, career-driven education for students.

The Ph.D. program in Marketing develops students into academic scholars who also excel in the classroom. Our program focuses on preparing students for academic careers involving scholarship,
pedagogy, and service. Graduates of our Ph.D. program have been placed at top Universities including Louisiana State University,
Villanova University, Clemson University, and Colorado State University, among others.
